A season finale...?

Just when you think there's going to be no skiing in the lakes in 2017, you get deep snow, blue skies and no wind. Almost perfect conditions.
Thankfully, those conditions fell on a Saturday (25 March), and five club members (plus one dog) made the 9.15am start from Matterdale car park. Skis were put on a short distance from the car for the climb to Randerside, then Great Dodd. Snow depth was around 20cm - difficult for the hill-walkers but ideal for skiing - albeit the very hot conditions quickly softened the snow.
From Great Dodd it was to Watson's Dodd and Stybarrow Dodd, then down to Hart Crag to cross Rush Gill and back to the car. The skiers were: Nick, Christine, Geoff, Marcus and Mike, and the non-skier was Binky the dog.
